Voyage to Nashville

The Cumberland River flows through downtown Nashville, 160 miles upstream from our home marina.  Starting on Memorial Day weekend, we took a one week trip up the Cumberland to visit Music City.  Two days up, four nights in Nashville, and two days back.

In downtown Nashville, we docked on the river at the foot of Broadway.  Just up the hill about 200 yards was the heart of the Nashville music scene, with dozens of little honky tonks lining the streets.

On the first part of the journey, we were joined by our good friends Mark and Julie Mertens.  None of us had ever traveled by boat like this.  None of us had ever gone through a lock.  Many “firsts” brought us all closer together.
